Trying to fix a compaq 7500 17" CRT monitor. Problem- No picture, after pressing power switch, the monitor continuousle shuts on and off with a loud tic sound every time. SMPS voltages are ok, HOT is ok, HOT base waveform is OK, B+ voltage is ok and entering to FBT, G1 voltage is also there. Desoldering of HOT collector or FBT pin-2(b+) or x-ray protection pin in IC stops power on-off cycle(power LED lits steadily if there is video signal otherwise turns amber after some time) but no picture. I don't have high voltage prob so canot measure high voltage.

Hi Jestine,
I have HP W1907 widescreen LCD, the upper portion of the screen around 1/3 is very bright, icons at that portion is blurry. I already checked for bad caps visually, but it seems that they are OK. Is it LCD panel problem? Thank you.

HI Jeff,
From your description chances is high the LCD panel is at fault. Before that make sure no loose connection cable between the mainboard and the lcd panel.

Hi Jestine,
Thanks for your prompt response. G1 voltage is -48V and there is no G2 voltage. I disconnected the G2 pin by desoldering it but no result, please advise. I have also checked the internal capacitor of FBT with analog multimeter and digital capacitance meter, seems to be ok.Should I send you the snap of the waveform at HOT emitter?
Thanking you,
With regards

HI Aps,
No G2 voltage means the flyback did not energize. Could you feel that the tube pulling the hair of you hand the moment you turn it on? I need the photo of the base of HOT and not the emitter because usually emitter is connected to ground. Send to jestineyong(at)electronicrepairguide.com
