The complaint from my customer about this Telesonic RCR Radio was no sound. I took out my USB (below photo) and plugged it in and it can played but there was no sound even though the volume was already set to the maximum. This means, indeed the sound section was having problem

I immediately went straight to the sound section and check on the speaker first before I start to troubleshoot on the audio circuit.

Measuring the Ohm value of the speaker confirmed that the speaker wire connection internally was already opened circuit.

However, when I checked on the outer part of the speaker as shown in the below photo, it seems to have low ohms reading:

When I dismantled the speaker I found that the copper wire inside already damaged. Since I have new cooper wire, I soldered it and be able to fix the speaker.

The sound came back after fixing the speaker.

I really hope you can hear the sound but in this blog, you can’t hear anything because only photos posted!

Conclusion- Assuming if the speaker is working fine then the next step I need to do is to troubleshoot the audio circuit. It could be bad audio IC, improper DC supply voltage to the audio ic, dry joints, broken circuitry, no incoming signal and etc. Well, let me tell you that troubleshooting and repairing is fun and you will not get bored with it. There are so many things to learn in electronics troubleshooting. Alright, will see you again in the next repair article.

Though the problem got solved very easy, one cannot do so as simple as that, unless it is an expert like you! Many thanks for sharing!

Wireless speakers, although electronically speaking are technically possible, still do not exist in the consumer world and possible require more energy to work without wires. Luckily these old electrodynamic speakers still can be fixes by reconnecting a broken wire this easy.
