Play Station 4 Pro With Overheating (Shutting Down) Issue Repaired

I was sitting at home; my son came to me and asked me if the loud sound of fan on his PS4 pro is normal? When I went to his room, I could hear a loud noise coming out of the fan and it sounded like a jet plane was taking off; it was loud.

I took it to my shop the next day for check up.

In this case it is either a blocked fan vent, dry thermal paste or both.

There a lot of screws on that metal board that have to come off and also disconnecting flex cables as well.

As seen in the photo, there is a lot of dust on that board and tells this device is dirty and needs cleaning.

The thermal paste on that IC is dry and needed fresh one but before that, I need to do some cleaning and dusting.

This is the worse part, look at this dirt blocking the cooling vent; no wonder I was getting that loud fan noise and sometime shutting down warnings.

First thing, I cleaned all that dirt and dust, added fresh thermal paste to the main IC and hoped for the best.

I cleaned the main IC, the heat sink, and added fresh thermal paste. That is the thermal paste that I used for this job. I put everything back together and tested the PS4. I gave it to the master to test it out, my son (sorry I could not take a photo of that).

My son was happy that it is no longer has loud fan noise or shutting down issues but instead a long hours of use for games and stuff.

Mission Accomplished.

Glad that you could help your son although he had to wait onto the next day. These game consoles are very fast computers packed with a lot of graphic computing capacity in a limited space why the needed cooling power extrapolates with that technology.
And I recently heard that Apple has a design problem in one of its very new expensive graphic desktop computer models. They in fact just multiply the same old single Apple cpu/gpu they have into a next model cpu that has a multiplied amount of these old cores that internally simply are interconnected to create a much faster cpu on a smaller chip. But the problem was that this new model computer had some cooling issue that caused the Apple computer to have some sort of blackout when they tried to run the graphic program Blender on it. Something that you do not want to happen on a brandnew computer of at least about 8000 dollar!

Good job Waleed Rishmawi: I wonder what kind of thermal paste they use, I have computers over 6 years old, with no over heating issues. Of course they are not heavy graphics gaming machines.

Lynn: thanks man. this main chip usese a heavy load of information and it gets hot so the thermal paste has to be renewed every once in a while depending on the usage rate of the machine. I have added a MX 4 thermal paste which considered an excellent one but you never know with these machines. have a blessed day

It is necessary to change the Thermal paste at least once in a year for better performance of the CPU if your unit is in continue use.
