Replacing Two Resistors Solved Three Blinking Problem In SONY LED TV KLV32R402A
While I was getting my TVs rectified with the guidance of my friend at his shop, he also asked for my help in attending to a few of his pending work. That is how I opened this set and just carried out the instructions given by him. The problem in this TV was it just shuts down after a brief display and blinks three times. According to him, the blinking codes 1 to 4 in this type of TV is related to power supply problems.
This TV used an external AC adaptor to provide 19.5V supply. There is a secondary power distribution circuit inside the mother board. He marked two resistors on the board and asked me to remove them and replace with two he gave me. Here is the picture of the board and the marking done by him:
He told me that the voltage at the output of these two resistors should be around 2V and if the value of the resistors increase, this shut down happens as the uController senses the change in current flow and takes protective action. When we measured, the voltage was around 2.67, which was more. The input before these two resistors read the full power supply.
So, here is a clue to those who are facing similar problems in this type of TVs. I just carried out the replacement of these two resistors, one 82K and another 10K (incidentally, the 10K resistor was not black and looked like a cap!). The TV worked ok, with a few horizontal lines on the top. As the person who brought the TV was a technician, who only wanted this problem to be solved, as he was capable of resolving the lines, we closed the TV and allowed it to run for some time.
Mission accomplished, with satisfaction………….(Well, you can guess, I need not have to say (LOL) (Sorry as I could not cover the entire process with more pictures!)

Repairs like these probably only can be solved by engineers who are specialized in fixing these uncommon tv defects in a for them daily base routine!

Good Job Parasuraman: using suggestions from someones experience by credit given, then completing the job is rewarding. We would also like to know the rest of the story, about the lines at the top, to complete the repair. It appears your friend already knew both solutions, but being a friend he let you do one of the fixes.

The TV was brought by another technician. My friend did what he was asked to do by that technician. What another technician did is unknown. May be the customer was ok with the lines and he would have let it go. Many thanks for your comments!

Please replace all the strips at a time. There will be mismatch in current drawn between old and new LEDs. It will fail again soon, otherwise.

Parasuraman: I replaced the faulty strip only with the same exact one from another broken TV, the customer is not interested in paying for replacing the whole lED strips on that TV. have a blessed day

Can we check MOSFET on board ?

Yes. But if there are resistors connected between legs, it might not show correct reading. You have to use an analogue multimeter and check with probes and interchange them to know the result. Even then, resistance through other active or passive components can misguide.
