Saved Another CRT Monitor From Dump-Model LG 500G
Since I have already covered a similar case in another article, link is provided below; I am skipping some images that might be repetitive. Kindly see them here: https://jestineyong.com/servicing-lg-monitor-model-500g/
This CRT monitor belonged to the hospital where I work and was brought with the complaint that it became dead while it was being used and some smoke came out. The Monitor was delivered to my home. I opened and cleaned it thoroughly and quickly located the problems.
One diode in in the secondary power supply and controlling Mosfet was short and two capacitors were bulged. The Output transistor was also short. Saw fungus formation in a few places. The corresponding circuits are also given below.
After I replaced all the defective components and cleaned the board using IPA, it looked like ok and I fit the board back for a power on trial.
The monitor got on and when I used my Signal Feeder, the output was seen very good.
After testing the monitor for several hours, I fixed the back cover for pick up by the hospital. Mission accomplished gladly adding satisfaction to the collection.

I am all for keeping old equipment running, except perhaps when it is costly to do so, in this case I am weary of the cost of electricity to run a CRT.

Ha! Ha! A dislike is also one that should be liked! It gives us the opportunity to retrospect and rectify our mistakes and wrongs! Moreover, it also ensures reading and scrutiny!
