HOW TO FIX LED TV BLINK 3 TIMES

LG LED TV REPAIR

This 32″ led lg tv was brought to me with complaints of not working, i had worked on this tv 9 months ago with backlight problem then, so i tested tv by powering it on with its remote, the standby red led blinks thrice and stopped, but tv does not power on.

When i checked voltages on secondary side of power board, there was only 3.3V on secondary output voltage. So i suspected the psb, removed it from chassis and combed through it.

Then i discovered a joint wire that is rusted at its solder pads, this joint wire is connected to positive of tank capacitor at one end and the other end connected to a track that runs through to a 52 kilo ohms, then through a diode, then to drain of power ic (start up circuit).

HOW TO FIX LG LED TV

What baffles me is how this board was able to generate 3.3V while the joint wire is badly rusted…..i don’t understand!!!.

Well after replacement of wire and powered on tv, it works beautifully. The below pictures will explain better. I can gladly say this is the finished repaired work.

a rusty wire would make such issues. I had issues like that in welding machines repair. An AC line going in to a capacitor but the other pin of that cap was damged just a tiny bit and the machine stopped working. thanks for sharing and have a blessed day

Good fix! Rusted components and jumper wires cause a lot of problems. Continuity will be there, but it cannot pass the required current because of which the TV fails. Regarding 12 Blinking, I do not think it can be 12. A maximum that I have come across is only 8. May be you have missed the gap while observing. Anyhow, I have put a query in my group and shall update if and when I get a positive response.

Good job Imoudu. Wished I had similar success with fixing a problem in a 32 inch Salora TV I found. It goes on for a very short second with working backlight when externally powered but refuses to work normally! Sadly no service manual or circuit can be found.

Albert , I have seen LG TV's that would light up just for a second then go dark , Usually the fix IS the LED's ..... I usually just replace the individual led chips ..... Try the flashlight trick on the screen to see if you see an image ..

Thanks for your comments,i now know it's because of no enough current as result of rust that causes tv not to switch on.
As for the sony tv,i counted the number of times (12) it blinks severely at different tmes,so i am not mistaken about this count.I am hoping to hear from you what your whatsap group will say.Thanks.

Nice repair Imoudu. Rusted components like jumper wires are a problem to a circuit. This happens, especially, when in a home someone is keeping chlorine. This chemical is not in good relationship with electronic gadgets, they get rusted easily. On the 12 times brinking of the Sony tv, you have to tell us the model of it so that we can be of assistance

I got one response from a senior guy. He says, in old LCD type 40" TVs, 12 blinking comes. It means the voltages at the mother board are not proper. You have to check all voltages like 5V, 3.3V, 1.8V etc. May have to also change filter capacitors.
