Standby Problem Solved In LG FLATRON W1642S Computer Monitor
This monitor belonged to the hospital where I work and was brought to me with the complaint that after a power fluctuation in a room due to earth wire leakage, this monitor remained in standby. I opened and cleaned the Monitor thoroughly. The front frame has to be gently peeled off taking care not to rip off the front panel control connected to the mother board.
Then the metal housing has to be tilted gently, after removing the backlight connectors from the sides. The connectors have a press to release lock. The power supply PCB is mounted on the metal case along with the mother board. Let us have a look at the inside.
On inspection of the PSB, I could detect three 680uF/25V caps bulged. I replaced these along with a couple of other electrolytic capacitors. Then did an interconnection of boards keeping it on the rear of the panel, of-course over a nonconducting plastic sheet. Then when I applied the power, the monitor came on.
I fed a few signals and found the monitor to be working perfectly well. So closed the monitor and tested it again for a few hours. Monitor was found working without any problems. Mission accomplished with ease, bringing a satisfaction more to the collection.

Your excellent instructions about carefully opening the monitor were superclear! Like the mentioned connectors having a press to release lock. And the way the front frame has to be gently peeled off taking care not to rip off the front panel control connected to the mother board.
Last front frame remove warning instruction also often applies to many tv's too.

As I have covered its use in my previous monitor repairs, I did not give a picture of it. https://jestineyong.com/power-failed-in-lg-flatron-w1642s-computer-monitor-due-to-burst-capacitors/ - In this article, it is there in the last picture. Just zoom and see. I bought this from Ali Express long back. It is called Micro-VGA Test Generator.
Thanks for your comments!
