ModusLinkPTS does have wide selection and often has hard to find TV boards not available elsewhere. But their boards cost 50% to 100% more and are often refurbished. You must return the defective board you replaced or you will pay a core charge which can be 20% to 50% more.

eBay is now my primary source but you often wait several weeks or months for a board to appear. Many dealers like ShopJimmy or even MudusLink sell over there but you get the best price from smaller private sellers.

Another source is www.Taobao.com, the Chinese eBay. You can get almost ANY board there provided you know which seller to ask for it. Most boards are new and are priced US$50 to $100 and lower (sometimes ridiculously so) for quantities. The supply seems unlimited and available any time which lead me to believe the sellers have connection inside factories. I would feel uneasy about placing large orders.

    HI Sam,

Thanks for sharing and you are right about the Chinese website unless you are very sure they can be trusted.

Beware!! This Company will state that they have 100+ boards in stock but in reality NONE of them work!
They take your money first THEN they start to fix the board they say they have in stock.

I don't know if they really stock the boards or are locating a board from somewhere else and then sending it to fill the order. But either way it is a bit shady.

It should be CLEAR on the site pages that the parts are NOT fixed and have a week or more of time to get them repaired.

I told both operators I spoke to that they need to change the site to reflect this.
It is stated on the web to give 3-5 business days for shipping, but I assumed it was the time for us to receive the item, which is standard time for normal ground services.

The other meaning of this is it takes them 3-5 days to put the item in the mail!
Today is the 5th 'business' day and 8 days since we ordered. The rep said it might go out TOMORROW or SO!!!! which makes their 3-5 days now 6-7 days!!

My customer is calling me for their tv since it should have been fixed yesturday!
This company is making us look bad and holding up income because of their delays and poor disclosure.

I could have paid a little more and gotten the board elsewhere and it would've been here already.
It seems most businesses do not care for us little business guys and how they hurt us with this nonsense.
Buyers Beware of ModusLink PTS !!!

I will ask next time(if there is one) if the part is ready to ship or not.
If not ready, have them call me after they get it fixed to ship, Only THEN will I pay for it, NOT beforehand...

ps. I went to the Chinese website Taobao.com and I cannot read Chinese so it was difficult. I used google translate which helped alot. BUT I cannot tell if they 1) will ship to the US, 2) How to get a price for the shipping. 3) How long it would take. etc..

Someone could make some money as a broker/translator/go-between if they read/spoke Chinese and acquired these boards for us shops here in the States, from China.
