Utility Tool Light Repaired
One of my friends given me this tool for Repair stated problem, Pilot light is remaining always ON in dim state.
On visual inspection I found LED Dim Glowing, ON Off Switch is not working.
My friend come to know one day in night he opened his drawer for some work, hi found some light is visible in drawer but he is not sure from where this dim light is coming from, he stood up & light up his room’s light, he come to know this Utility tool pilot light is glowing DIM.
For inspection I opened the ON/Off switch top cover. & removed batteries but along with switch also fell off.
Checked batteries for working all of three batteries are found OK. Now checked ON / OFF switch on Multimeter beep mode it shows no sign of working.
Checked switch, it shows only three legs on one side.
I arranged new switch for replacement. This replacement switch is DPDT Micro Push Button Self-Locking Switch.
It comes in different size, this switch is of 8mm x 8mm size. in this type of switches different size switch is having different pin out working. I found this switch pin outs as follows.
You have to first check the circuit for identify which Legs are used of the switch. If you put reverse switch it will not work.
So confirmed pinout using the Multimeter on Beep mode & marked on the switch, which side is works as a switch as per the circuit requirement.
soldered only two pins of new switch on the circuit.
Checked with new switch, now no dim light problem & On/Off is also working fine.
Re-assembled everything back.
Now utility tool is ready for pickup.

Good job on replacing this non-temporary on/off switch!
Odd that these DPDT dip size switches are mainly used for controlling power connections while they only can switch an operating current of 100mA max at a maximum voltage of DC30V.
Since most tumble dual or single changeover switches easily can handle 2A at 250V.

I recently ordered a lot of these switches and they were easy to find and cheap. Thanks for sharing your repair challenge. Have a blessed day.
