Perhaps those who handle LCD/LED TV service would agree that failures of the speakers in these TVs are more. Mainly because of the small sized speakers crammed into a box or covered space and the customers’ tendency to increase the volume to full! Anyhow, technicians like us get the benefit as the work is easy to carry out and we can earn a decent income too!

Case (1) Videocon LCDTV-VDL32HBL-FLB : This TV belonged to a family friend and he brought this with two complaints. One was that the on/off switch was not functioning and as the TV does not work on remote due to an internal problem in the uController that happened after a lightning strike long back, it was very difficult to operate this. Second was that the sound also became totally dead.

I replaced all the press to on buttons on the control panel and replaced the speakers as these were found open. But one channel was still not working, as the sound IC had developed some internal problem. Since the TV was already in bad shape and might require a panel replacement, he did not want to spend more money on this. Hence I closed the cover and tested the TV in front of him for an hour, before he carried it back:

Case (2) Samsung LEDTV-UA32F4100AR : This is the TV, which houses two tiny speakers internally wired inside a box and the contacts are established through the fixing screws. I removed the paper torn speakers and took it to the market for getting exact replacement in size, ohms and watts, which was 6 Ohms and 10W.

After fixing the screws, I fed video and tested it for hours together at full volume before closing the cover and informing the customer to come and pick it up.

    Good Job! Sir,
Small switches are always make some resistance instead of Beep over period of the time & total time vest for fault finding if switches are more in numbers in the control panel. Speaker's are going bad because of bad quality of paper cone.

Thank you for the Public Service Announcement Sir!
I remember the first time I even heard of a shorted speaker causing a TV not to work.... I heard it from YOU.
Luckily I have never run across such a problem but the solution will be in the back of my mind in case I do.
    Well Done

Since speakers become flatter and flatter there is not much space for a good bass box in tv sets. And DSP tricks are used in smartphones to emulate good sounding polyphone frequencies in those low Q factor speakers.
To protect my 80 Watt audio box speakers from blowing through their internal speakers coils I use special thermal fuses that in seconds prevent a too high flowing current. With this calculator from this German seller, and two of those protecting self restoring PTC resistor 'fuses' (after cooling down), I now never have to worry that my expensive Elac speakers (that are no longer made and so not available anywhere either!) blow up to kingdom come again! => https://www.lautsprechershop.de/hifi/ptc_en.htm

I have not encountered any speakers fault on any tv for some reason. I usually collect them as spare parts but I never had the chance to use the so I gave them to the recycling center in our town. Have a blessed day and thanks for sharing

That's strange! May be, you have some control on noise pollution in your country or area! Here if you enter an apartment, it will be like a hell!
