LOGITECH Mouse Repaired
This Mouse LOGITECH Model Number: M-SBF96 was given to me with two complaints:
- The cursor was not moving fine in the Display.
- The right click was not working.
Note: this device was checked on by another tech that was what the owner told to me. As you can see in the photos below it’s an Optical device with PS/2 connector.
First thing done was to open the device, a piece of cake, only one screw.
The first complaint previously mentioned could be seen at simple sight and it was fixed immediately by pushing down the plastic cover of the LED till the clips were fixed in the PCB, look at the pictures below:
To solve the second complain previously mentioned it was necessary to look for spare parts of an unused mouse.
One of these micro switches was de-soldered to substitute the bad one in the original PCB of the mouse.
Once the micro switch was substituted, and the mouse was completely armed, connected to the PS/2 slot of the motherboard, and the PC switched on, it worked perfectly fine. Look at the photos below as an example.

Hi Humberto. Nice to see you are back with a new repair.
Those Microswitches are much better and longlasting compared to
the mostly hard to replace cheapish Membrane switches. And the
clicking sound they make is a plus.
It would be nice if the Electronics industry would manufacture
easy to replace low hight Membrane switches too.
Because most remote controls simply can't be fixed with those high
Microswitches.

Yes Albert, remember I was abroad, and then separated from repairs. But I confess I had a good time with my sister, niece and little nephew. I could not repair a Amplifier Audio System there in Ecuador because I had not my tools with me.

Hi Humberto,
There are some that are not so happy about his visit. I have not had anything to make an article about in a while also. I had a few that did not pan out. I'm waiting for a new EEPROM programmer to get here right now so I can check out a Samsung LCD TV. According to my books the panel is bad. But I'm going to experiment with it and check into some things. The new programmer, MiniPro TL866A is supposed to work with Win10 and also has ICSP capability. I also have another hobby now, leatherworking. It is a lot of fun making my own leather pieces! My first project was a knife sheath I finished the other day.

Good job, Humberto. Sad to know that this gadget was "prepared" before by another. As a matter of fact this other "technician" is really very bad...

Hi Henrique, I did not publish any photo of the PCB of this mouse, specifically of the bottom with the solder joints and its surround areas of the micro-switch because I felt sorry about the destruction the other tech had done, I suppose he/she used a soldering iron with too much power. But anyway, the mouse was saved.

Thanks for sharing. But mouse switch is also repairable. I have opened it and repaired so many switches by cleaning their contacts, then it works as a new switch.
