Just short repair article. I recently had trouble with a heated throw rug homemaker electric throw rug repair

I would be sitting watching the Tv setup to make a cuppa or let the cat in and come back. The throw rug had reset.

Anyway I dropped the controller on the floor and noticed it had reset.

This got me thinking It may be dry joints. So I unscrewed, 4 torx no 10’s and it was apart.

Looked over the circuit board and noticed a cap had no solder on it and the lead was too short (not poking out of the hole).

So I resoldered the offending Capacitor and an electrolytic as well. electric throw rug circuit board

I then put it all back together and did a drop test and it all good.

I wonder how this got through the QC department as the soldering looks like it was done by hand except the smd components.

Fast and easy done repair. Never heard about a Electric Throw Rug before though (Likely because English is not my native language being Dutch). Just looked it up and saw that it is a heated blanket we at a cold wintertime put in our beds to keep warm. I always wondered how they are safe without getting electrocuted since the heater wires are woven directly into the textile fibre. And there is no safety transformer last time I checked. Once my blanket almost caught fire because there was a overheated black spot visible from a bad connected heater wire. And it is even stranger that the blankets are also washable. Thanks for the article.

I'm hot natured and have never used a heated blanket myself.

Throw Rug and Cuppa are just good old Australian colloquials.
Easily recognised in the land Down Under but may be a bit puzzling to others.
And Cuppa simply means Cup of coffee or tea.

Well done. You wouldn't happen to know the values of R7 & R14, or have a larger/higher-resolution image showing the backside of the PCB ?
