Water Pressure Device Not Operational Repaired And Maintained
A friend of mine walked into the shop and asked me to take a look at this water pressure device that was installed in his house and for some reason, it was not operational.
That is the expensive kind used a lot in our area and it has been operational for the past 7 years according to the customer.
It seems like tender loving care maintenance is needed and I am here to provide that.
The main fault; the motor is not responding to the command of this device and that means either the motor is dead or the device is not providing the 220 AC volt to operate the motor.
The customer applied 220 AC volts directly (recommendation from me) and the motor was running fine so the problem is in the device. Let the repair begins.
It was very easy getting inside the device and the moment I took the cover off right away I saw the fault. If you look closely to the relay, it has bad burn marks and that explains a lot about the fault.
The device printed board is coated with material to prevent water damage and by the look of it, the construction of the board is very solid and well organized and no wonder it is sold at high price.
The pins on this relay are coated with burn marks and the best answer to his issue is by replacing the relay but unfortunately, I did not have a brand new relay to replace it with. Since the device is urgently needed, I decided ( with the agreement of the customer) to clean the pins, put it back on board and make an order for a new relay to be installed later.
I cleaned the relay pins, installed it back and powered on the device. If you look to the LED lights, there is a third one in line and it was off which is an indication the fault is gone.
That is a confirmation test that 220 AC volts is being produced here but still it has to be installed back at the customer’s house for more confirmation.
Later on the customer called me and confirmed that all is well and at the mean time, an order was set for that relay…
Mission Accomplished.

I guess that it was not easy to desolder the defect relay because of the waterdamage preventing coating on the solder. The manufacturer would have done a better job by placing the relay on a socket. Especially knowing these devices are not cheap and replacing the most wearing part and switching heart on these boards is only the relay.

Albert: it was not hard to take them off board but when I put the relay back on baord I add the water preventing coating back on the pins of the replay. if they put the relay on a socket it would not prevent the water from going in. have a blessed day

erik: well it depends. in this situation, I had to use a fiber obptic cleaning pen to clean the contacts since they are hard to reach inside. sometimes I use a fine sand paper and it does the job but keep in mind this was not the final repair I ordered a new relay and was installed later on. have a blessed day
