A couple of Foxin SMPS ATX power supplies were also saved from dump with peculiar problems noticed

  1. FOXIN F500S : This was brought to me with the complaint that it did not take the load. On checking, I found that there were dry solders on the board and the two tank capacitors were dried out. ESR of other caps also was out. One jumper wire and one disk capacitor was found rusted. The rust formations in other components went off after cleaning with IPA.

After replacing all the electrolytic caps including the Tank capacitors, as the values were lower and retouching the board thoroughly, the SMPS came back to life.

I had to use a 250V cap in place of 200V and the sizes were larger. So, I bent them slightly slanting to accommodate.

I already read part1 but almost didn't notice part2. You sure have been very busy doing free services for the hospital! I hope that all the 'sick' bad e-caps you have replaced are nevertheless somehow compensated for (lol).
