Bulged Capacitors And Torn Speakers Found In HAIER LED TV Model LE32B7000

haier led tv repair

This LED TV belonged to the hospital, where I work and was brought to me with the complaint that it was dead. I carried it home in my TVS Wego Two Wheeler, binding it well with elastic ropes.

While opening and doing the preliminaries, four bulged and emitted capacitors came to my notice, which looked like the empty shells of fireworks.

Instead of de-soldering the caps, I twisted them to the sides with a player and removed them very easily. Removed the stubs and replaced all the four of them. I noticed that the paper holding outer ring of speakers were cracked. As this TV was used in the OP section and good quality of sound was essential, I replaced the speakers too.

When applied the power and fed Video, it was found working very well. I allowed it to run for a considerable time and closed the back cover for carrying it back to the hospital.

Mission accomplished and satisfaction added to the kitty!

Carrying such a large tv on your TVS Wego Two Wheeler seems pretty unsafe to me, especially in busy traffic!
That probably was also the most difficult part of this repair that you handled very professional as usual.

Well, there is a little bit of risk involved in it. But the TV needed urgent attention and I found this easy way out! Many thanks for your keen observations and comments!

It seems too many devices are breaking down in ur hospital needing ur attention which suggests it must be a very large hospital.
The tv seems to be using combo universal board. At times these boards are very difficult to repair at components level.Well thank God you just need to replace few caps.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

Your observation is correct. It indeed is a 250 bed Super Speciality Hospital. Though we have large isolation oil filled transformer with over voltage protection, the sudden surge escapes all such arrangements and ruins the loads. In the process, the weaker circuits get affected. Many thanks for your comments and encouragement.

LCD inverters produce high voltage AC pulses and it is dangerous to measure it with ordinary multimeter. You may need High Voltage Probes, even if you want to measure. The best method is to use a line tester and keep it near (never touch the transformer or its wires) and see. LCD Testers are available in the market. It is better to use it. Many thanks for your comments and query!

Good job Sir. It seems in most of these LED tvs, these capacitors, especially the one 330uf35v, always gets bulged. If it's not this one then it's the backlights. Is there any of equivalent of this capacitor that can withstand the excess heat?

A lot of strain is born by these caps. The best way to put a slightly higher voltage rated capacitor and use a 105-degree rated one instead of 85 degrees. That can last longer. As a routine, always replace these caps when replacing the backlight. Many thanks for your comments and query.
