Getting Complete Parts For All Electronics Equipment
There was an email on the above subject whether i could locate the complete parts for all electronics equipment. My reply was there was no way that one can get all parts for all electronics equipment. In certain equipment most probably yes you can find all the parts. Lets take a LCD Monitor as an example, it can be broken down into LCD panel, Backlights, Mainboard, Control panel, power supply/inverter board, flex cable, VGA cable, casing/cover and etc. Again some of the boards contain different components for example power/inverter board, we have power transformer, power ic, power fet, bridge rectifier, secondary schottky diodes, optoisolator ic, inverter ic, high voltage transformer, ballast capacitors, power trench IC and etc.
The problem now is that there are hundreds or probably thousands of LCD Monitor model in the market and many of the model are using different part numbers. Although you can find substitution part number, you cannot find all the replacement for all the parts especially the power transformer, high voltage transformer, power ic and etc. Worst if the Monitor is still very new in the market.
Below are the ways where you can try to locate the parts:
1) Ebay (you can buy loose parts/boards or used Monitors)
2) Local electronic shops
3) Oversea electronic shops (electronics supplier websites)
4) Authorized Service Center
5) Used/junk Monitor
6) Forum Members and
7) Repair Friends
You can use the above tips to locate the parts that your type of equipment needed.
Conclusion- As a repairer we will try our best first to get the parts and if the parts still can’t be found or too expensive, you are either to buy over the set from the customer (to salvage the parts) or send it back to customer.
If you have other ideas on where to find parts please leave your comment below-thanks.

Jestine, this is good info. I have found late ley you can buy things cheaper on Ebay dead or some part bad for less money than buying a new part like a screen for a laptop. Also I find a lot of tv's in yard sales and on the side of the road for trash. These are freebies and gold to a repairman.

I always make a habbit of me asking the customer if the equipment did not get fixed or too expensive to repair about selling this equipment for a certain amount of money..most the time, it works..and because I live in a small town, people know me very well, because sometimes when I am walking in the street and they see me, they ask me to come to their shop and look at the equipment that is for sale..it is a good way to buy used things..it is actually great and I love it ..

I always source for electronics parts from local electronics shops,we've quite a lot of them around in my area but most importantly i don't joke with junk boards because the parts on them are often reliable compare to new ones sourced from those shops and you find components that you can't find at the market on them.my customers atimes complain of my acquiring junks in my workshop but they don't understand its part of what had been keeping my repair work growing and makes them rely on me for most of their repairs-a good repairer=access to good and quality parts.
