Repair Of Power Bank Charging Circuit
This scrab of power bank circuit have been laying around with me for quite a while and I thought making use of it.
Infact I thought of using it to charge a 7.4V Li-ion battery pack, which i made, but I guess I was out of mind when envisaging to do this, however I learnt the hard way. So I connected two 3.4V li- ion batteries together in series and soldered it to battery + and – of circuit, then start charging with 5V adapter, and charging leds were showing, indicating charging.
Forgot to take picture of this set up,this went on for about 45 minutes and then charging leds stopped showing, this seems unusual to me,when battery is fully charged, all leds will light on,but in this case all leds went dead. Then I suspected something has gone wrong, thinking, it then done on me my mistake: this circuit is for single 3.7V – 4.8V li- ion, to charge with 5V adaptor.
So the next thing is to troubleshoot, first disconnected the batteries, then connect the adaptor usb to it, check if there is voltage at battery terminals, yes there is 4.3V, but charging leds not showing, this indicates charging and stop charging ic is partially damaged,
so suspected ic IP5306/2.4A, I don’t have exactly this, so i replaced it with IP5305/1A, the difference is the former charges faster than the latter, then I put it to test by using it to charge a 3.7V Li-ion battery and the charging leds showing charging and when charging is full, all 5 leds lit down.
This is finished repair work.

Indeed the 1S, 2S, 3S and 4S charger (BMS) boards are only for 1,2,3 or 4 cells in serie. And all boards also have a maximum current they are able to deliver. Glad you were able to make good use of your 1S Li-ion charger board.

Great fix there, dear Imoudu! That was a professional job, which also involved its own intricacies. But you managed it very well! Thanks for sharing. The article also contained very valuable info!

Appreciate your comments, however I don't understand what you mean by
"1S,2S,3S and 4S....in serie" If you mean in series, such batteries in series will not work in this circuit, I connected two 3.7V batteries in series to this circuit and it got damaged. 7.4V was in excess for this type of power bank circuit.
