Hisense Tv With Blinking Standby LED
Hisense 40″ tv was brought to me by a new client with complaint of,….. when tv is power on with tv remote, standby led only blinks without tv switching on,this was confirmed in presence of client, with affirmation he wants to collect tv same day,this prevent me from snapping some relevant other pictures.
On opening back cover, and examining the green universal motherboard,two e- caps were swollen.
Most often I do encourage customers to replace motherboard with new one,rather than to repair damaged parts, this customer was willing to buy my idea.
But then I decided to test tv with a new blue motherboard which I normally use as a tool to check if panel is ok or not whenever such tv is brought for repair.
So I interchange the tv original board with my tooling motherboard and switch ON, to my surprise tv switch on,with backlight on but no pictures…..this baffled me because same tool blue board have been used in the past to test tv and it has been working with good pictures.
So what happens…….ur thought is as good as mine, I will come back to this question in subsequent article.
Since this 1st timer customer was in a hurry to leave, insisting he must leave with his tv, for the fact he came late in the day. There are some of these clients that think we are miracles workers on repairing devices.
So I suggested to repair tv original motherboard, with no guarantee,not even for one day to him,which he agrees.Why with no guarantee you may ask….from my past experiences in repairing such combo universal motherboard, I’ve learned these boards always have subsequent components damage after a couple of months after the repair, which usually causes tv revisit by customer unhappy.
At this time, it was after 9pm, so desoldered off the two swollen e-caps ( 470uf/16v and 470uf/25v)
and replaced with working ones, then assembled board back and switch ON, wow….tv came back to life, with bright hisense logo, slot in my flash drive to tv usb input to play a video clip, which when client viewed was happy, l couldn’t snap pictures because of client hurry to go. So I scored a goal in this saying ” first impression goes a long way” , because he left happly.
