ITT DVD/VCR Player Repaired. Model: IT6060
A customer had this DVD/VCR equipment that he bought from an auction but when he tried it, the door tray of the DVD player did not open. This equipment is a combination of a DVD player and VCR player. The VCR side of the machine was working fine. The problem was only with the DVD player.
When taking the top off, I noticed, it is all nice and clean on the inside and I had to take the seal off when opened the cover. Nobody had opened this equipment before. It was brand new.
Since the problem was with the tray no opening, my attention was focused on that area. I checked the motor and the belt on that motor and I could see there is a problem with the motor. I measured the voltage reading on the motor and I could not read anything there. The moment I soldered out connections of that motor, the positive and the negative wires, I could read 5.9 volts on that connection. That is an indication of a bad motor. To be sure, I used an analog meter by Samwa to check the motor. This is actually a nice way of checking these motors. I put the meter dial on X1 setting and I connected the meter probes to the motor, and the motor did not spin. Usually,when doing this, if the motor is in good working condition, it will take the power from the meter and the motor would spin. In this case, the motor is bad therefore, it must be replaced.
I replaced the motor and put the motor belt back on and powered the machine. The door opened and closed nicely. I put a DVD disk on the tray to make sure the machine would load the disk in the right way and it did but the disk did not spin. I got a warning on the machine display a message that said disk error. Of course I could see that error and it should be an easy fix. The motor that supposed to spin the disk was faulty too and it has to be replaced. Once I did that, the disk was loaded nicely and it started to spin. I connected it to a TV set via AV cables and I could see a picture being displayed on the screen.

Thanks for the artical on open close issue in Tray ,
you can also check the resistance of the motor , in good working sets will show you 12 to 15 ohms and in bad ones it will be less than 10 Ohms.

Also, Motor checking through AVO meter is the easiest way to check Mini motor problem fastly.

How about sharing your experience in DVD player problems with "No Disc Error"? Tried changing DVD disk, still disk error. Tried cleaning the lens with DVD cleaner kit, still got No Disc Error. I love some tips from you guys before I will go to my mom's house to fix her unit..
