No Display In Acer 17″ CRT Monitor
I have one problem with acer17″ CRT monitor. There is no display, no EHT development, but power supply all voltages are ok and supply voltage to microcontroller(WT6116) and horz. osc (TDA4856) is ok. Front LED status changes from orange to green when cable is connected. OSc is not developing horz. freq. My question is, whether TDA4856 is dependent on microcontroller or not for horiz. frequency development. Where the fault may be. I have no voltage chart of any above IC.
Answer:
This type of monitor circuit the TDA4856 is depends on the microcontroller to produce the output. This means if the microcontroller IC did not send any signal through pin 18 and pin 19 of TDA4856 then this IC will not produce horizontal drive pulse thus the flyback will not switched even though the TDA4856 is getting the right supply voltage. If the TDA4856 IC itself have problem it also would not work.

In the age of LCD and LED monitors, is it viable repair CRT monitors nowadays except to keep them out of landfills?

Hi Alex,
It depends on you. If someone brought to me CRT Monitor or TV I will still repair it. Sometimes is not about the profit but is about the satisfaction seeing a dead machine can be brought back to life.
