    Hi Mr. Yong,
    It is 3.32ohm +/- 0.5%. Which means it's good
    at 3.303 to 3.336 ohms.

The picture isn't very good. I thought the 4th band was silver.
If it is gold, then it is 33.2ohm +/- 0.5%. That would make it good at 33.366 to 33.034.

    Sir jestine
I appreciate you for above question.
The Resistance Value is 33.2 -^- and Tolerence is 0.5 % percent.
Justification for the Students and Learners Like-Wise,

By Using Resistor Color Code Formulas

Resistor Color Codes is Orange, Orange, Red, Gold, and Green

Now Respectively Values are 3 3 2 Division by 10 and green is Tolorence Value which half 1/2 percent.
The Value will be 33.2 ohms with 0.5 percent Tolorence

    Thanks you

Sir Jestin. Blessings and Thanks From Jamaica.

This resistor is 33200 MEG Ohms.

by my examination, might have a tolerance of +/-20.
But the others are correct in suggesting it SHOULD be -+5%! 😮 ?

Hope I'm right - else I need more of your lessons >.> 😀

    Here is the answer:

    3.3K Ohms, 5% tolerance, 20 ppm/K Temp. Coefficient

The meter read 3.3 K ohm and the last green color band info can be found in this link:

    http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/resistor_color_code.php

    Look for optional band explanation.

and also take a look at the below color band chart:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_color_code

Congrat to those all you who managed to answer it. Is ok for those who can't get the right answer as we are all here to learn.

    Cheers.

      Hi Mr. Yong,
Perhaps the resistor is out of tolerance (bad) and just happens to check at 3.3K. Everything that I have read says the 6th band is a temperature coefficient.
Are you saying that they have re-written the rules?

          Hi Mr. Yong,
That should be against the law. I understand military doing stuff like that but it shouldn't be done in commercial applications.
Do they just want to save the money for 1 more stripe of paint?

            HI Robert,

Not sure about the law but in some 5 bands resistors you could see the last stripe was white or even black but the calculation is to use the 4 color bands method.

Thanks Jestine for the answer. Although I was the first one to answer correctly later I made a confusion. Not only this there are many differently coded resistors which causes lot of tension to repairers to find the value, specially when the resistor is open. I didn't invent anything, I just Googled to find the value of that particular resistor.

    Hi Jestine,

I'm sure the resistor is tested with ohm-meter as 3.3K 5%,
but I got a little bit confused as the link says:
"The 5 band code is used for marking high quality, precision resistors with 2%, 1% or lower tolerances."
How do we categorize a 5% resistor as a high quality and precision one?

And how we can determine the 5th band as tolerance or temp. coefficient!

There must a general way or rule for this.

    thanks,

      Hi Amender,

The rule of thumb is to locate the 4th color band. If it is gold color then the fifth is the temp coefficient. This is just my opinion.

im late but guessed 3300 ohms 5% .... .from previos experience if the resistor is a power type, wirewound not carbon, and is open, and you need to find the value, I have in the past chipped away the ceramic coating very carefully and measured with and ohmmeter from either end till I got a reading.by estimating how far you are from the end you can kinda guess approximately the value.itll get you in the ballpark anyway!! tolerance is not that important a lot of times just as long as you make it PLAY !!! mike retz dallas texas usa

      Hi Mike,
I would just use a single-turn pot to find the average ohms for when it works. Then use a multi-turn pot to check how close of tolerance the circuit needs.
I haven't actually tried it yet, but in theory it seems to me that it would work. I think I will test it within the next few days and see.
