Beware Of Old Stocks Being Dumped, In Which Batteries Could Be Dead
Following two cases are illustrated to make the public aware of old stock getting dumped on us. The first case is my own and the second case is of a customer.
Case 1 : I ordered for a Portable Vacuum Cleaner online. (Details of the product can be seen in the following link: Powerful 4-in-1 Strong Suction Vacuum Cleaner by Home Depot© – The clean store (theuniquestorrs.com) ) I received the item on 21st of May and charged it full before use. When I tried, the battery did not last even for a minute, even though the seller claimed it was long lasting. I wrote to them on 24th May, asking for permission to return the defective product, as it could be returned within 7 days of receipt. There was no response to mails and Whatsup message, upon which I lodged a complaint to the National Consumer Forum.
As the item was urgently required by me and there was no warranty seal of any kind on the screws, I opened it and replaced the battery. Incidentally, the cleaner does not have a brand name or model number on it. The packet was also devoid of MRP, Date of Manufacture, Manufacturer details etc. which is mandatory. Anyhow, after replacing the battery, it worked very well. Here are a few pictures:
Case 2 : An LED Light of Mr Light was brought to me with the complaint that it was new but the light did not last even for a minute. It was given as a gift by someone who came from abroad and he was not able to make any warranty claim.
I knew immediately that this was yet another case and got a hunch that this also could be another 18650 battery! I opened the light and to my surprise found another 18650! Here are the pictures:
The battery had a charging control board on top, which I carefully disconnected from the bottom (-) and top (+) wires. Here, you can have a close look of the charger used;
I got a replacement battery, which was 2200mAh (better rated) and wired the same using solder, as I do not have a battery wire bonder. Then stuffed it inside the battery compartment and put it for charging.
The light was found working very well for a prolonged time. Here are a couple of concluding pictures:
Missions easily accomplished and satisfactions to the power of two added to the collection, with of course lessons learnt!

Parasuraman or should you be referred to as Parasuperman! In any case as a repairman for over 40 years on electronic audio and musical instrument equipment I am starting to run into defective replacement parts that are sold as new components on internet. And your example of products being sold as new may reflect that,as many of these products use components that are being sourced from surplus dealers. It seems to be one of the many hazards our industry has to overcome.

Well done Sir. The batteries themselves were likely of questionable quality to begin with. Leaving them dormant in the warehouses only put the nail in the coffin. It wouldn't be a bad idea to stockpile good quality 18650s on our shelves. I personally have 40+ on standby for the inevitable cordless power tool or appliance that will come across my work bench.

It looks similar to the DW01 protection ic with low dropout 8205a regulator. But the pin configuration is different on the DW01 and the DP - delay testpoints pin on the G3JC chip is different.

there are a lot of fake battaries out there or even devices they say they are brand new yet are not and of course with fake devices there are alot of crooks who sells this kind of device that does not even work or does not last a day of work. when it comes to buying offline I never buy unless I am really sure and I read a lot about it and read comment of people who actually bought the same brand device. thanks for sharing my friend and have a blessed day

Yes, it is useful. When I bring a set to table after all external and internal cleaning, there will be still some dirt or dust inside when we remove board or other fittings. We can use this on the table as it sucks it fairly well.
