Computer Showing Garbage Display On The Screen
I have visited customers place that stating above problem about garbage & vague characters display on the screen.
My first suspect is Monitor. I removed monitor display cable from pc. I am getting “OSD” about “No Signal” with clear words that mean monitor is OK.
Now time to check display cable. I had carried one extra VGA cable for testing with me replaced and checked getting same garbage display that means monitor and cable were Ok.
Now suspected area was CPU Unit. in this unit there may be problem with RAM Module or Motherboard itself (major display problem may occurs from graphic section of the Motherboard i.e. GPU section for this fault BGA work is required but to replace GPU / North bridge success rate is very low hence only solution is to replace the whole Motherboard) in old series of motherboard North bridge is controlling GPU Section.
I have opened the unit to see inside condition. It looks very dusty from inside. I removed RAM cleaned with IPA and re installed it for testing but same problem. I put another working RAM but still problem is there i.e. RAM module is OK.
Now suspect is Motherboard. Before making final conclusion I decide to remove the motherboard clean it and reassemble the unit and see whether it works or not. So I have removed Motherboard for cleaning. After removing motherboard I have removed dusty CPU FAN look the hell below the CPU FAN………
Cleaned the dust using Brush and washed full motherboard using IPA.
After Cleaning I reassembled the whole unit.
And powered On the Unit and I got the clear display.
Due to dust accumulated on the motherboard it creating minor shorting somewhere after cleaning the board using IPA it solved the problem.

Good job Yogesh. Cleaning is never any customers worry. I once had a similar text corruption case when I replaced the original writable Eeprom on a desktop mainboard with an older common not writable (The UV erasable ones) standard Eprom BIOS. Still everything worked just fine only some characters were garbled.
