The complaint of this Enzer DVD Player was it can load and eject disc but it cannot play showing the “No Disc” symptom.

As usual, the cover need to be removed in order to repair it.

When I was testing the lens unit I found that there was no laser beam and this could mean the mainboard, ribbon cable or the lens unit have problem.

Note: Do not look at the laser beam with your bear eyes as it can destroy your eyes. You can use a digital camera for this purpose. For more information on how to test a laser diode you can check out the video below:

I continued to check on the player and found the ribbon cable was not in good condition.

I replaced with a new cable and the lens was still not working.

Next I connected an external new pick up lens unit and tested it again. I saw the laser beam coming out. So replacing the lens unit solved the problem. If you would like to have more information about DVD player repair you can check out Humphrey’s ebook here.

it's good to know this repair was different than others. it seem most times would be the ribbon cable but this time it was the lens. A question is.. what other brand of dvd did you use the lens from for the test and did you use the whole package of the lens or just the lens was replaced?

Thanks for an article chuck full of information. But, just like Corriete asked on August 21, I would also like to know more about the lens assembly you used to check the one on the DVD but I don't see a reply posted yet.
