Shutting down was the main complaint of this LCD screen. Sometimes it takes few minutes and sometimes few seconds. When I powered it on in my shop, it took only a few seconds to go to shut down. The standby light was on and off. I am assuming a power supply problem. Let the repair begins.

My friend sells LCD computer screens and while he was cleaning the storage room, he found a lot of old computer screens there.  We might use some for parts and others; I will try to repair them. So, let the fun begin.

The moment I took the back cover off, I could not see anything due to the dust covering the power and the main board. After cleaning, this is what I saw.

A few bulged capacitors were found in the secondary section of the power supply. After cleaning, the board looked nice and clean.

As you can see in the photo, there were three bulged capacitors and one that had very high ESR reading. I think that might be the answer to the shutting down problem of this LCD computermonitor.

They were two 1000uf/16 volts, and two 470uf/25 volts. The other capacitors on board checked ok.

The moment I replaced all defected capacitors, the LCD computer screen came back to life and this time, it did not shut down. I attached it to my laptop and powered it up and it worked nicely.

As you can see, the picture is nice and clear and you can see the picture of my son who loves to stay in my shop and help me out. He is only three years old.

Customer came and got his LCD computer screen back and of course, he tried it in his shop for almost the whole day. He was happy with it. Mission accomplished.
