LED Lights Control Board Shorted Out Repaired

An electrician brought these devices for repair, they are all the same exact boards with the same exact issue to be repaired and maintained.

The issue of these damaged devices started when a technician was asked to come to a big hall (used for wedding celebrations) and check out/set up LED lights and program the control light board but something happened that no one expected because when the technician put the light faders all the way up at the same time caused a loud bang inside the hall.

They diagnosed the lights wires and devices one by one and found out that these devices were damaged and needed repair.

These devices are usually connected to a light mixer to control the different kind of light colors; red, white, green and blue.

A few screws off and I was able to see the inside of this device and as seen, they are brand new which were installed recently.

It was very obvious where the damage was but when I checked the part number of the blown part, I could not find enough in my shop so I had to order more. The part number is CMP80N04.

When I checked the specks on line, I could not find the same specs; I found CMP80N06 instead; they are the same thing except the second part number has the same amp but higher voltage ratings which I had no problem with. I made an order for the CMP80N04 and in two weeks time I got the parts and I was able to repair all the devices here.

I de soldered the old damaged part out, replaced it with the new one and send it to the customer for testing. He called back and gave me the ok to go ahead with the rest of the damaged devices.

They work on DC 5-24 volts and as seen in the photo, the power light is on and according to the customer it was a job well done.

Mission Accomplished.

This is quality repair done professionally that still raises the question what may have caused the loud bang that made all 8 boards blow up at the same time?

Albert: I appreciate your nice comments and yes I asked the same question myself to the techinican that installed the system. one of the LED lines was shorted and as a technician looking for a fault was not supposed to turn everything fully at the same time. instead he should have isolated the shorted line by tuning one LED strip at a time. This technican powered all the channels at the same time fully and that caused this damage. have a blessed day

Yogesh: yes. every time I go to buy stuff from the electronic hard ware store, I do not find anything that I need and so I do not do that any longer because it is a waste of time. I order parts on line and get every part that I need in less than two weeks otherwise I can not make a living. have a blessed day
