thanks, and yes the esr-micro does have some similarities with the Atlas ESR only the esr-micro has a ESR range of 0-100 ohms and a capacitance range of 1-60,000uF. I have been using the esr-micro a lot and I really like it so far.

enjoyed reading your blog and was wondering if you had any idea why a 42 inch philips would go black screen and make a chirping noise when powered on?

    HI Jesse,

If you are referring to LCD TV then you may need to check if there is supply voltage to the inverter board. One of the backlight have problem could cause the display to shutdown. Make sure also the power supply is producing good and stable output voltages.

    HI Inder,

Did you connect to the motherboard and turn it on? Try check the filter cap in the output section with ESR meter.

      HI Inder,

Screen turn off can be the high voltage shutdown or the G2/HEATER VOltage not present. Could You confirm if the TV still have high voltage once the screen is dark? You can confirm this if the tv still pulling the hair of your hand after shutdown.

      Hi Inder,
It could be dry joints. Try gently tap the board with the handle of screw driver to see if there is any changes. What is the B+ voltage to flyback before it shutdown?
