Ramtons Microwave Oven Model RM206 “No Heating Problem” Now Repaired
I received this microwave in my shop with “no heating symptoms”. This problem is usually caused by failure of one or more components on the high voltage circuit.
See the components labelled below.
If any of the components labelled fail, Microwave will have “no heating symptoms”
I found the HV diode was shorted, I replaced the diode with the same specs. applied the power and found the heating problem now solved.
Repairing Microwave oven is easy if you understand how they works. But be sure to understand the safety precautions before working on electrical appliances.

A good HV diode acts in the Microwave oven as a cap charger and HV voltage doubler. Normally there also is a HV safety fuse that protects the 4KV HV circuit from flowing too high currents. But now the 2KV HV cap probably only got a constantly at 50Hz changing 2KV AC voltage on its poles without losing or charging any energy and without blowing the HV safety fuse. And the necessary 4KV was never generated to activate the Microwave HV tube either.
