The Inside Of A USB Portable Rechargeable Soldering Iron
This is a handy tool that I bought a few months back. I used this often when working on SMD components and doing some minute soldering works. The backup time, unfortunately, is not good enough when used in high temp mode. But when we do work on T-con or Scalar Boards of LED TVs, this is very handy and we can finish the work quickly. Recently it developed problems such as not getting charged fully, buttons not responding and tip not getting heated up.
So, I got a chance to look into it and that is why I thought of sharing it with you all, since this tool might be of interest. Since I
noticed that the two sides of the iron were covered with tight caps on both sides, I pried it open, upon which I could locate two screws at each side holding the sides together. Let us have a look:
As you might probably have noticed from the second picture, there were dry solders all around.
I retouched all the points including the tip holding sockets and USB port holder. Then it looked well and healthy:
Then when I inserted the battery and tested with the tip loaded, it was working very well. Even the charging was taking place properly. The heating selection one, two and three also worked very well.
Mission accomplished with a different double satisfaction getting added to the collection.

Avoiding damaging this device while trying to open it is always the hardest part when no screws are visible. But you happily managed to fix your almost brandnew portable solder iron. The part -2 got me thinking recently also having seen another recent portable solder iron repair too.

You are right, dear Albert! This is an unfortunate repeat and I do not know why! Could be an oversight! Many thanks!

Thanks Parasuraman. Thats a pretty much worthy tool. Even jacks of all trades wont wait to own one if its cost is not a detering factor. Whats the estimated duration between full recharges if its made to work for 5 minutes continuously at 30 minutes intervals ? Is the light it illuminates sufficient for working in total darkness ? In any case, some other tool was deployed for retouching to fix the portable soldering iron. In my national language there is a proverb to the effect - a barber cannot trim his own hair. By the way I hope soldering iron and soldering gun mean one and the same thing.

There is no light emission from the iron. What you see is the charging indicator. The maximum time it stays is around 10 minutes at full temperature. We need to keep everything ready and then only we can switch it on. Soldering iron and soldering guns are different. Iron does not have air blowing like the gun. Moreover, the gun is not used to transfer heat by touching it is a non-contact type. Many thanks for your comments!
