Two Simple Jobs – GEEPAS GMS8575 AMPLISpeaker & Local Make Gate Opener Remote
Case (1) Amplispeaker: This belonged to a charitable institution that provides shelter too to many old aged destitute. The complaint was ‘found dead’ one day when they tried to play a prayer while taking lunch.
I opened it and cleaned it thoroughly. Let us have a look at the inside of this lovely Amplispeaker:
The on/off switch was found defective and I replaced it. From the third picture above, you might perhaps notice a wire going to the front side of the speaker. It had several colored LEDs connected to the sound output, controlled by a separate IC to give a lighting effect when playing.
There was a switch in the panel for its on/off. The LEDs were not lighting up and the customer did not want that to be rectified as they never used it. Since several rusted screws might have to be removed and the LEDs if peeled off might damage the wooden cabinets; I too preferred not to open that side. The set was tested for all its features and found to be working very well. I did not charge anything as a support for such an institution.
Case (2) RC Unit of Local make Gate Opener: This was brought by a regular customer with a request whether the RC unit could be made working, as the supplier was unable to send him a replacement immediately.
I opened the unit and checked up and found that the battery had leaked and corroded the double sided PCB very badly. Let us have a look:
The unit was using a 12V battery. I cleaned the PCB thoroughly using IPA and did a dry solder patch up to the extent possible, as some of the solder points had got hardened like cast iron and it was not melting, however I tried! Anyhow it started working at-least with a red light on and I hope it should work when tried at the customer’s house.
Since this was using wireless communication, frequency of which was not known, I switched on a SW radio and tried catching its frequency somewhere by tuning. Some signals could be heard though distorted. So, I closed the case and kept it ready for the customer to collect it.
Double satisfaction got collected to the bag!

I guess that the regular customer also verified that the RC Unit of his Local make Gate Opener was working.
For checking RFID,NFC,Sub-GHz,and even IR,iButton,Wifi and Bluetooth signals I recently am able to check all those signals and much more with a portable Flipper Zero. It even can copy keycards, read my bank card, open Tesla cars and also local gates with its upto sub-GHz frequency transmitter/receiver. Also switch on/off all sorts of television sets remotely, and block all nearby Apple smartphones which is dangerous! The Flipper Zero is a universal engineer's portable little but expensive gadget for hacking and debugging. It is like the Pwnagotchi portable device, that you much cheaper can make yourself, but with many more functions!
But testing if an ultrasonic upto 40KHz audio device is working (like those Ultrasonic Dog Repellers that often can't be opened), I found that its audio signal easily can be tested by simply connecting a large Piezoelectric Plate as transducer to the bnc input of my oscilloscope(s).

Expert comments packed with experience and technical data, which many of the techies would find it very, very useful! Many, many thanks, dear Albert!
The local make RC Unit was reportedly working fine.

i get many cases like that either dirty, cold solder or rustey keys and pads..they usually come back to life once these issues were dealt with. I have purchased a special device that tests door remots, car remotes and mostly all kind of remotes which all come handy when testing these devices. have a blessed day my friend.
