Tracks Found Cut In Philips AZ1047/94 CD Sound Machine
This set belongs to my school classmate and was brought with the complaint that it was dead. After opening the covers, I dismantled the set completely and did a thorough cleaning up.
While doing retouch of the dry solders, I saw that the power supply pins were detached from the PCB and the track was also cut underneath. So, wired it up and soldered it properly.
I also scrutinized the other PCBs and replaced all the electrolytic capacitors as the ESRs were found to be out. Completed the patch up of dry solders on the other PCBs as well.
I lubricated the connectors and also the rails of the sliding motor. After this, when I checked up, the set was working perfectly well.
Mission accomplished and satisfaction got collected!

You certainly always make sure that you do not miss anything that would make the device come back for repair on a previous fix!

What ESR meter do you use? Obviously you are getting good readings from your meter. Thanks in advance.

This ESR Meter was bought from Jestine Yong, a few years back. Works as good as new even now!

Wow! You are an inspiration at 72! I opened the door of the cassette player as my cassette reel was stuck. There is a pin like object with a loop which has come out (the part was most likely attached to the door). I don't know where and how it goes but after I put back the door and press the eject button, the door does not open with the usual spring action. I am able to open the door by using a screw driver. I could send you a photograph. Can you help? It is the same model Philips AZ1047/94.
