Repaired No Power Problem In HP VS19e 19″ LCD Monitor
This HP VS19e 19″ LCD Monitor was repaired by other electronic repairer because i could see the soldering mark on certain part of the power supply section. When i power”On” and then “Off” it i tested that the big filter capacitor doesn’t discharge at all. That means the high voltage (about 300 Vdc) remains in the filter capacitor. Normally for a good power supply, the filter capacitor voltage will discharged by the start up resistors. I have tested few of the start up resistors and seems to be okay.
After completed testing all of the suspected components in the primary and secondary section i concluded that it was the power IC SG6841SZ problem that had caused the filter capacitor still storing charge even though the equipment is already off! replacement solved the no power symptom in the HPVS19e 19″ LCD Monitor.

OK, it is very nice explanation. My problem is that someone already worked on the power supply module. So now the filter capacitor (C805)is 100uF/400V, resistor (R836) now is 100ohmm, and resistor (R813) now is 2x100ohm connected in line (100+100). So if I want to change IC, first I need to be sure if above mentioned values are original or not.

I have a 20 inch hp lcd powers on then off if I pull video cable and replug in works for several second. Had a ctx did same thing was the plastis capacitors next to transformer .There is a plastic capacitor next to transformer in c824 pp 103j 630.5 volts.Wondering if it could be problem or any suggestion would be appreciated Thank You Ron

Hi Ron,
After the display shutdown what was the colour of the POWER LED? As for the CTX yes it could be the cap, high voltage transformer fault or dry joints or even bad back light.
