ACER Laptop Repaired For Various Problems
Received laptop for multiple problem like it Suddenly turn off on Battery power, overheating, Audio problem intermittent working of touch pad keys.
This laptop is about 3 years old so the battery may be worn out, causing the laptop to suddenly shut down on battery power mode.
But before the conclusion, I first have to check the laptop internally for any physical damage, such as broken parts, burnout, liquid damage, etc. So I took the laptop apart for further troubleshooting.
On opening the back cover I found CPU Fan is dusty & FAN air vent is full of Dust fuzz, also CPU surrounding also dusty. Battery Physical condition look good no sign of Bulging; Speakers also look good but bit dusty don’t think cause for sound problem.
Anyway first of all I cleaned the Laptop because sudden turn off may be due to overheating of CPU.
Removed CPU Heat sink & found CPU thermal paste also degraded.
Dust off everything applied fresh CPU Thermal paste.
Cleaned everything just cover the back side & Turn On the laptop on Battery power.
Battery showing 70% Charged, I kept it on burn-in test. I found laptop is turned off after half an hour, I removed back cover & checked CPU heatsink for overheating, but found it normal heating. Now I checked Battery health it was showing 58% as per the Guide line above 80% of battery health it is ok condition below 80% it shows degradation still works good till 70% with average Battery backup time but around 60% recommended to I change the battery.
I forgot to take screen shot of the report of old Battery. I ordered the new Battery to my part supplier & collected from his place after 1 hour.
Removed Old Battery & connected new Battery, and again checked Battery report it is showing 100% Health OK.
to obtain Battery Report.
Go to Command Prompt & write command
C:\windows\system32\Powercfg /Batteryreport /output c:\Battery_ report.html.
This will create Report file in c:\
Now open the file in any Web browser & it will show all details of the battery.
To obtain Battery health in % just Divide Full Charge Capacity with Design Capacity & multiply by 100 you will get Battery health Percentages.
Here it shows 100% with 0 Cycle count. Indicates battery is fresh.
For audio problem I reinstalled Driver, it fixed the Problem. For touch pad I cleaned switches & PCB using IPA & I toggled the switches few times it starts working.
Now reassemble the laptop and fit the screws by applying nail polish on the screw threads.
this will keep the screws firmly in place and lock them, reducing the chances of losing the screws. After fixing i put the laptop on Burn-in test it works for 3 hrs. without any problem. Checked audio & touchpad switches everything is working fine. Now laptop is ready to pick up by the customer.

Visual inspection and observation are essential for technicians to learn or understand processes in any profession.
I come across many laptops with missing screws. When repairing laptops, technicians sometimes don't pay attention to the size of the screws or how they're installing them. You may notice that the screws installed by the original manufacturer have a blue adhesive that's used to lock the screws in place.
