LG DVD Video Out Problem Repaired
The complaint of this LG DVD Player was it has power (see the above picture) but the display/image was totally bad (see the two pictures below).
It was not the TV fault because the TV works fine when connected to another DVD player. It was not the cables also because I have replaced the cables and the problem was still the same.
As usual, we need to open the cover in order to check the internal section. The first thing I saw was the cockroach’s crap (excrement/feces) all over the place which include the circuit board (see the three pictures below):
I had to clean the area especially the circuit board using the PCB chemical and after that need to check for continuity of the circuit traces. It seems that the circuit traces were fine.
So, the next thing I did was to apply soldering paste onto the SMD IC legs before using a SMD rework station to perform the reflow
After done the cleaning and the reflowed of the ICs I powered On the DVD player and take a look at the result below:
Conclusion- I did not replace any components in this set. If the cleaning and the reflow did not bring back the good picture I will recheck again the circuit board. Probably there could be leaky components or may be a broken circuit track that I have missed out. Servisol has an excellent silicone grease in a tube.
Suranga, , your uncharging of a tube is rather harsh. You should use the soft flash method, which means you have to use a high voltage probe and a digital voltmeter. Use the probe until the tube is fully discharged. Philips Netherlands told me themselves.

Good job, Suranga. Insects can cause a lot of damage. After applying flux to the pins, I usually just go down them with my soldering iron after putting a little fresh solder on it.
