Swing Motor Shaft Exchanged And Modified In A Nameless Bladeless Fan
This fan was brought to me by a close friend-cum-regular customer with the complaint that it was dead. The bottom screws were removed and everything taken out like how you can see on the above picture. I could see the capacitors were bulged and were responsible for the dead condition (two 100uF/100V Caps).
Here you can have a closer look at the board and how I placed the replacement; two 100uF/200V caps elsewhere inside:
Then I fixed the bottom cover and applied power. I noticed that the swing motor was jerking and getting stuck even when the swing option was switched off by remote. The fan then shuts itself off. So, removed the bottom cover and when I checked up, the output pulses to activate the swing motor were present always. Definitely, something has gone wrong in the hardware or firmware. Since data of these ICs or a circuit diagram was not available in the net, I suggested providing a separate control switch by directly connecting the 230V AC 2RPM motor and the customer agreed for it.
Then when I applied power separately, I noticed that the motor itself was defective and was getting stuck. So, I dismantled and opened it to see that the coil former made of plastic was in pieces and the coil was exposed and almost jumping out. I had a replacement motor with a 5 RPM, but the shaft was longer. So, I dismantled the motor and took out the top portion and went to a lathe shop and got it resized like the original shaft to accommodate the push/pull lever. Following pictures would help us follow better:
Then I fixed the motor and applied power, upon which it was found working well, pushing & pulling the lever enabling the swing.
Connected the wires directly to mains through a push to on switch, which I fit in a hole drilled for the purpose.
Then reassembled the fan and tested it for more than three hours both using swing and without and found it to be working very well! Mission accomplished with special missions attempted and satisfaction gathered with intensity!

Another difficult but successfully handled repair that was erratic hardware and electronics in one repair!
These modern bladeless fans are ingenious very well designed devices with a very high speed hidden fan in the holder.
Sadly bladeless windgenerator turbines are still fiction.

But the top portion of the fan, which houses the highspeed propellor type fan, cannot be removed very easily, as the cover is fixed with sticker tape. That is a problem. Normally, it should come out like the jar we take out of a Mixer-grinder. But it does not even turn.
