It is not sensing the movement, so removed the Sensor unit.

I soldered the wire back in place and prepared the unit for testing, but the problem persisted (perhaps I accidentally broke the wire myself while removing the white rubbery glue).

I checked the voltages on the PCB’s IR circuit; the circuit remains confusing because some traces run beneath the controller IC, so—without wasting any time—I decided to remove the controller IC and trace the circuit.

This is how Traces  beneath the Controller IC.

soap dispenser testing

After investigation, I discovered that the problem was caused by the IR sensor. So, I re-soldered the IC. I checked the continuity of all the cables, and they seemed fine. I de-soldered all the wires from the IR circuit and removed the IR diode unit for testing.

Checked IR Diode (White) Under the Mobile Camera Found it is working OK, Checked IR sensor with multimeter but not sure about working, then I connected the IR Sensor to My External Test circuit.

fixing soap dispenser

When connected to an external power source, the test LED bulb turns on immediately without receiving any signal from the remote (I used my TV’s IR remote for testing).

This indicates that the IR sensor is faulty. There are no markings on the IR sensor, so I purchased a few different sensors to try out.

fixing soap dispenser sensor

I discovered that only one of the five IR receivers matches, even though all the sensors have the same pinout; the other two sensors—which have metal shields—do work, but their front profile is different, so they cannot fit into the IR box.

sensor checking

Soldered all the wires & tested for working, now the unit is working properly, hence for proper insulating the top of the IR BOX I used hot glue gun so that it can save the unit from Moisture or liquid seeping.

These soap dispensers are very useful now in times of outbursts of all sort of plagues. With the deadly Ebola and with the recently new discovered black plague being added to the known list of dangerous infections almost a must to have at home! Thanks for sharing Yogesh!
