Coil Found Shorted In This Butterfly InductionCooker Model Power Hob Ivory
This Induction Cooker (hereinafter being referred to as ‘IC’ for the sake of brevity) was brought to me with the complaint that it emanated burning smell and smoke from inside after a few seconds of operation and then switched to standby without showing any error.
There was a liquid spill on the top of the place where power on switch was located on the right top of the operating panel. (Please see first picture above) I opened the IC and you yourself can see the amount of dust, dirt and cobwebs as well as stains of spilt liquid (probably milk) found inside:
After a thorough cleaning of the inside with various brushes and cloth, I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors as the values were in the brim and also the press-to-on button switches on the panel as a few were found rusted.

Then went to the electronic shop and fetched a replacement coil as it was found shorted and melt.
There were number of sizes with different fittings. We need to pick up a coil of the same size with same fittings having the connection wires facing the correct position. Luckily I got one which was matching. Then did a dry solder patch of the board from one end to another and cleaned it again with IPA and allowed it to dry.
Then opened the dust cover of the fan and applied a few drops of liquid grease. Then fit the board and fan back on its case and kept the panel onto the side for conducting a test run. Let us have a look:
As you can see the IC got on and started heating the water and the second picture shows the water boiling. I fixed the panel also back in its place and tested the IC for a few more times using it in the kitchen and found it to be working very well, upon which I fixed the back screws and moved it out for pick up by the customer.
Mission accomplished with full of satisfaction that got entry into the collection bag.
