No Heating And Responding To Commands Solved In GEEMAX GIC-0999 Induction Cooker
This Induction Cooker (hereinafter referred to as IC) was brought to me with the complaint that it was getting on but not responding to commands or heating up. I opened the unit and subjected it to a thorough cleaning, including wiping clean the inside of the cover.
Surprisingly I could find red mud dust inside and I wonder where was this being used, as I know the customer stays close by. I forgot to ask him too!
I cleaned the board using IPA, before taking up repair work. A few resistors were open and one was found burst. I replaced these resistors and all the electrolytic capacitors and the 8050/8550 transistors, 78L05 regulator etc. as a routine preventive maintenance and service. As the fuse and IGBT were intact, there was no need for me to replace these. I removed one leg of the black large capacitors and checked its value and found these to be ok. The fan was lubricated as the grease was found hardened.
I cleaned and retouched all the points on the front panel. I also did a re-soldering touch on the main board. The connectors of the fan, front panel and temperature sensor of the plate were also lubricated. After this, I just put the PCBs and fan in its place and applied power. The IC was getting on and responding to commands. I kept a vessel with water in it and heated it up until it boiled.
Then I closed the back cover with screws and transferred it to my kitchen. Remembering the past incident of blowing my home IC when I kept another IC for testing on top of it, I promptly removed it and kept it aside.
Then placed this IC in its place and boiled milk. It was found working very well. I used the IC for three days continuously before calling up the customer to come and pick it up. Mission accomplished easily with utmost satisfaction getting added to the collection.

You again are a master at repairing Induction Cookers! Which are the cookers of the future when hopefully green electricity replaces all fossil fuels.
I only wonder why you with all your previous excellent experience in fixing these special cookers took 3 days of testing before finally handing it over to its owner.
And did you maybe also test any of the old replaced semiconductor components afterwards to conclude what exactly had happened to the cooker?

The IC is known to fail within a short period, inspite of our best service! It was done to obviate such an occurrence and resultant bad reputation.

The uController IC will not function without its embedded program. There is no use of replacing it without its program. Many thanks for your comments and query!
